Driving inclusive growth, enriching lives and strengthening communities

We’re looking for a new Board member

A welcome message from our Chair

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the role of Board member of the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), the organisation behind Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. This is an opportunity to be part of the most successful Olympic and Paralympic regeneration of any global city. We are now at an exciting stage in delivering the legacy as we focus on optimising and activating the Park’s spaces, assets and networks to deliver our ambitions for inclusive growth.

LLDC and its partners have achieved an incredible amount since our creation in 2012. Our work at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and in the surrounding area has been pivotal in shifting London’s growth east. Thousands of homes have been built on and around the Park, 16,000 new jobs created, with more than 40,000 expected by the mid-2030s, 10 universities are located here, alongside two new business districts, and world-class sporting venues such the London Aquatics Centre and Copper Box Arena. All nestled within award-winning parklands and blue spaces.

The Park is one of London’s most exciting and unique destinations, attracting millions of visitors from around the world each year, providing a valuable resource for local communities, and generating millions of pounds of economic benefit for the capital and for the UK. We are delivering a lasting legacy in partnership with local people and together making a difference which will bring benefits for decades to come. As Chair, I have seen first-hand the impact this organisation has on people’s lives and the opportunities we have to do more at scale.

We are now embarking on the next chapter of the story. East Bank, the largest ever cultural investment made by the Mayor of London, will become fully operational in the coming months, with the opening of the BBC Music Studios. The BBC will join London College of Fashion: UAL, Sadlers Wells East, University College London, and the V&A East Storehouse and Museum to form a world-class culture and education quarter situated at the heart of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

We will also continue to work with joint venture partners, to deliver new neighbourhoods, with thousands more homes, including a high proportion of affordable homes for local people.

As one of the capital’s three innovation districts, the Park will maximise its role as a hub for testing, investing and scaling innovations. Through cross-sector partnerships with boroughs, businesses and civic institutions, we will support London’s leadership in urban development and provide a dynamic platform to generate solutions that have impact far beyond our borders.

Our Framework for Inclusive Growth, built in partnership with communities, stakeholders and partners sets out a shared vision, delivered through three interconnected pillars: the ongoing modelling of the Park ‘Habitat’; the scaling of our ‘Inclusive Talent’ programmes; and a discovery of the role the Park could and should play in supporting the ‘Health and Wellbeing’ of east Londoners.

This will further cement the reputation of the Park as a destination of global significance, bringing with it the potential to stimulate further public and private sector investment, drive innovation, and create yet more opportunity for the communities of east London.

We are now focused on maximising the commercial potential of our assets, attracting investment, scaling revenue streams, and building partnerships that ensure long-term financial sustainability. The Board plays a critical role in guiding this transition.

The LLDC Board is responsible for setting strategic direction and overall policy within a framework set by the Mayor of London, providing leadership and support to the organisation, offering oversight and scrutiny as well as monitoring performance and corporate governance. LLDC is a public body operating within established governance frameworks and a complex political and stakeholder landscape, which the Board helps us to navigate.

We are particularly seeking to appoint a Board member with strong commercial and innovation expertise. This is a pivotal moment as we focus on activating our assets, strengthening financial sustainability, and positioning the Park as a leading inclusive innovation district. We are looking for someone who can bring strategic insight, commercial judgement, and a track record of working within complex partnership environment, ideally across public and private sectors, to help us unlock new opportunities, attract investment, and scale innovation for public benefit.

Board members will be expected to:

  • Provide constructive challenge and strategic insight
  • Support commercial decision-making and investment strategy
  • Leverage networks to unlock partnerships and opportunities
  • Champion inclusive growth and innovation

Being appointed to the LLDC Board provides a real opportunity to not only make a significant contribution to improving the lives of all Londoners and boosting the UK economy, but also to be engaged with a once in a generation world-class development and regeneration process and leave a lasting mark on London – the greatest global city.

We will be working closer than ever with our key stakeholders, from local young people to huge global brands and our talented and dynamic Board will be key to an organisation that is listening and delivering.

We are committed to develop commercial opportunities and attracting investment on the Park and to exploit the huge potential for inclusive innovation in the area, working with partners and businesses and harnessing the talent of local people. We are keen to hear from candidates who share this passion and have the relevant skills and knowledge to add value to our work.

If you are excited by the opportunity to shape one of the world’s most ambitious regeneration and innovation districts, and to make a lasting difference to London, we would be delighted to hear from you. We are committed to building a diverse Board that reflects the communities we serve and welcome applications from all backgrounds.

Yours faithfully

Keith Morgan CBE
